How it works

  1. Open a recipe and tap Add All to put its ingredients on your list.
  2. Add more recipes. Ingredients with the same name merge into one line, with the amounts added up when the units match.
  3. Switch the list to By Item to shop by section: Produce, Dairy & Eggs, Meat & Seafood, Pantry, and more. Check items off as they go in the cart.

Good to know

  • Plain water stays off the list, since you're assumed to have it on hand. Tap Add to put it back.
  • Scale first, then shop: the list takes the amounts a recipe shows when you add it.

Questions about the grocery list

What happens when two recipes need the same ingredient?

If they call it by the same name, they merge into one line on your list, with the amounts added together when the units match, so you don't buy the same thing twice.

How is the list organized?

Two ways. By Recipe keeps each recipe's ingredients together. By Item sorts everything by store section (Produce, Dairy & Eggs, Meat & Seafood, Pantry, and more), so everything you need from one part of the store is together.

Can I add things that aren't in a recipe?

Yes. Type anything into Add an item at the bottom of the list, from paper towels to coffee.

If I double a recipe, does the list double too?

Yes, if you scale it first. Change the servings, then add the ingredients, and the list uses the new amounts. Amounts already on your list don't change if you scale the recipe later.

Can I make one list for a whole meal?

Yes. Open a meal you've planned and tap Add all to Shopping List, and every dish's ingredients go on the list at once.
