Import recipes

Save recipes from any website, without the scrolling

Focara Kitchen saves recipes from most recipe websites into your own recipe box: paste the link, and the ingredients and steps come in on their own, without the pop-ups, blog stories, and endless scrolling.

How it works

  1. Copy the recipe's link from your browser.
  2. In Focara, tap Add, choose Import from URL, and paste the link. The ingredients, steps, times, and servings come in sorted and ready.
  3. Look it over, make any changes you like, and save it to your box.

Import from URL and Paste Text are the first two choices in Add a Recipe.

Got it in a text instead?

Copy the recipe from Notes, a message, or an email and open Paste Text. Paste the ingredients into one box and the directions into another, and Focara turns them into clean rows you can scale and shop from.

Good to know

  • Works with most recipe websites and food blogs. Pages behind a login or a paywall may not come through, and if a page can't be read, you can type the recipe in instead.
  • Fractions arrive as kitchen fractions (⅓ stays ⅓) and scale cleanly.
  • Focara brings in the words, not the website's photos. Add your own photo of the dish whenever you like.

Questions about saving recipes from websites

What happens to a saved recipe if the website changes or goes offline?

Nothing. Once you save it, the recipe lives in your recipe box on your phone, so it stays exactly as you saved it.

Does the blog post come along with the recipe?

No. Focara keeps the recipe itself: the ingredients, steps, times, servings, and a short description, with a link back to the source. The long story and the website's pop-ups stay on the website.

Can I change a recipe after I import it?

Yes, every part of it. Save your changes as a new version to keep both the original and the way you make it, and switch between them any time.

Can I save a recipe someone texted or emailed me?

Yes. Copy the text, open Paste Text, and put the ingredients and the directions in their own boxes. Focara turns them into a recipe you can check over and save.
